Beat Medical Social Responsibility
Beat Medical are absolutely committed to ethical, sustainable business practices, specifically:
-
maintaining ethical business practices,
-
only undertaking projects which do not conflict with our core values, humanitarian concerns, and human compassion,
-
participating in the ongoing public dialogue about healthcare, and medical workforce,
-
doing business in a culturally sensitive, and global manner,
- taking small steps to reduce our effect on the environment,
-
giving back financially, and in kind to medical and humanitarian organisations through Beat Revolution.
Beat Medical is proud to have a relationship with Australian Doctors International providing recruitment services, advice, and support.
Australian Doctors International is a not-for-profit, non-government medical aid organisation that is working to raise the standard of health for people in the remote Western Province of Papua New Guinea. The need is great: communicable diseases account for about half of all deaths in PNG, while the average doctor must service over 7,900 people.
Since 2002, ADI has deployed 19 volunteer doctors on 25 assignments to North Fly District.
Doctors are based in the port town of Kiunga and are responsible for three things: (i) daily rounds at Kiunga Hospital, where there has been no permanent doctor for four years; (ii) outreach patrols to remote aid posts and health centres; and (iii) medical training of community health workers and health education of local villagers.
Volunteer doctors are also sometimes requested to assist with ADI's treatment and control programs on malaria, filariasis, leprosy and HIV/AIDS.
